What a BFF (Best Fertility Friend) Would Say – Ch. 15

Jan 4, 2021

These blog posts titled "What a BFF (Best Fertility Friend) Would Say" are a collection of random tips to give you strength and assurance as you try to get pregnant.  I hope they help!

With appreciation for inviting me on your journey,

Do This First to Start Your New Year!

You are beautiful in your uniqueness.

You are powerful because that's who you are born to be.

You are resilient from all the stumbles and falls you've picked yourself up from.

Don't give in to your fears and doubts.

Instead, allow the vision of your future guide you forward into the new year.

Let the new year signify renewed faith in yourself to manifest your dream.

To bring your baby in 2021, a little preparation goes a LONG way.

First and foremost, get clear on your vision because it may need to be adjusted.

It's kind of like how you shift your clothing so they're more comfortable - just the slightest tweaking lets you relax in comfort.

A lot of you will benefit from calibrating your vision to what you want (a healthy baby!) and away from what you don't want (your age, AMH level, diagnosis, past history).

It sounds simple but in talking with many of you, a recurring theme is an almost obsessive attention to the perceived obstacles and failures at the cost of where you actually want to be. In stirring up what is unwanted, you continue the cycle of it.

Rather, dare to dream. Only then will the possibilities open up for you.

If you're reluctant to dream about having a baby, that hesitation blocks you as surely as a brick wall will.

Journal about your vision. Include other aspects of your life, not just your baby.

If you're more visual, create a vision board.

The key is to spend more time thinking about your desire than about your doubts and fears. Doing so will tip the scale in your favor.

Remember...you get what you expect, not what you want.

I wish you the success you dream of in 2021!

The Power of the Full Moon

Like your menstrual cycle, the full moon only happens once a month.

The moon is the "yin" to the "yang" of the sun. The full moon is the most yin phase of the moon and therefore is energetically the most powerful feminine energy.

The waxing and waning of the moon mirrors the hormonal fluctuations of your menstrual cycle with estrogen levels peaking at the full moon and a higher sex drive (cue wolf's howl).

In fact, the idea that conception occurs most easily during a full moon has been around for centuries. So get busy during the full moon if it is the right time of month, ladies!

Remember, lovemaking is about connecting with your partner, first and foremost. The baby is the product of that love and comes when there is an overflow of love.

Double or triple your chances of getting pregnant instantly!

If you're using an ovulation predictor kit (OPK) to determine your fertile window period, you may want to expand your strategy.

The "pee sticks" detect a surge in the hormone, leutinizing hormone (LH), which occurs 24-36 hours before ovulation. Made in the pituitary gland located under your brain, LH triggers the release of an egg from the ovary. (FYI: In men, LH causes the testes to make testosterone and helps with sperm production.)

BUT...

your fertile window period includes the five days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself.

In other words, by the time you get a positive LH test, you've already passed some of your fertile days.

And another but...

Many women do not have reliable results with the ovulation tests, leaving them feeling discouraged and anxious about their ovulation.

So use a fertility app to track your cycle and let you know when your fertile window period is.

With a length of six days...significantly longer than the 24-36 hours indicated by an OPK - you can instantly double or triple your chances of getting pregnant with next to no effort.

An easy way to avoid the uncertainty of predicting fertile days is to make love two or three times a week.

Keep your family and friends close

As we continue limiting our contact with others due to the ongoing pandemic, make an effort to gather with your family and friends (virtually or in person) regularly.

Remember that love and comfort is available to you throughout the year as a source of strength on your fertility journey.

The best people to surround yourself with are those who can hold space for you, listen without judgment, and not try to "fix" you.

They don't need to know exactly what you're going through. No one does and to expect that from someone else further isolates you from others who can offer love and support at a time when you may need it most.

If you have those people in your life and have lost touch with them, reconnect with them at this most opportune time of year. They can help you through any feelings of isolation and loneliness you may be experiencing.

The vulnerability that you may be hiding from them keeps you from moving towards the mother you are meant to be. In sharing your vulnerability, you will become a stronger person, gaining fortitude for your next steps.
